Why You Must Ask Why!

Every response we give must be found in the Bible, or we would be out of order.

Here are the scriptures that back up the following types of enthusiastic responses:

1. Standing (2 Chronicles 20:19)
2. Clapping (Psalms 47:1)
3. Lifting Hands (Psalms 63:4, 134:2,1Tim. 2:8)
4. Dancing (Psalms 150)
5. Rejoicing (Philippians 4:4)
6. Kneeling (Psalms 95:6)

We are a Bible-believing church, and we believe that the supernatural gifts outlined in I Corinthians 12 are still in operation today.

1 Corinthians 12 shows us how to demonstrate these gifts.
1 Corinthians 13 shows us the motivation behind these gifts.
1 Corinthians 14 teaches how to regulate these gifts.

These nine supernatural gifts are: Word of Wisdom, Prophecy, Word of Knowledge, Discernment, Faith, Tongues, Gifts of Healing, Interpretation of Tongues, Gifts of Miracles

Prophecy ~ Tongues with Interpretation of Tongues

These are the gifts you will hear most frequently. The person with the gift of prophecy generally speaks out as if he or she were speaking directly for the Lord. Many times you will hear, "Thus saith the Lord..."

The person with the gift of tongues speaks out in an unknown tongue... which must be accompanied by an interpretation!

Everything we say and do must bring comfort to, exhortation and/or edification to the Body of Christ. In order for anyone besides the one speaking to benefit, we must be able to understand what is being said. Therefore, in a public worship service, the gift of interpretation must accompany the gift of tongues.

Remember-God loves you and desires a personal relationship with you. He wants to speak to you and you to Him on a daily basis so your relationship can grow. At times when we are all together, He chooses to speak through one of us to bring a message to His church. The message must line up with scripture.

There are a few more scriptures that will help you understand.

Why do we have audible praise?

Psalms 103:1 Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Acts 4:24  When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them."

Why do we sing in Tongues and English?

1 Corinthians 14:14,15 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.

Why do we sing choruses as well as hymns?

Ephesians 5:18,19 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.

Why do we anoint with oil and pray for the sick?

James 5:14,15 Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven.

Why does the whole church pray at once for specific needs?

Acts 4:24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them."

Matthew 18:19 "Again, I tell you that if one or two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven".

Trinity Life Center is an Assemblies of God Church that is Pentecostal in distinction. That means that there may be some things that happen in our services that those new to Pentecost may not understand. In this brochure we will attempt to answer some of the most frequent questions that arise, but if by chance we missed answering what you would like to ask, any one of our pastors and/or deacons would be more than happy to help you understand "Why?"

All of our services are designed as celebrations. We are celebrating (partying) because Jesus rose from the dead, and gives eternal life to all who will receive (Romans 6:23, 10:9; John 1:12). When you receive Christ Jesus into your life, you now understand exactly what "enthusiasm" really is: the word comes from two Greek words "en" and "theo", which stands for 'in God.' So when God is in you and you are in God, your response is one of "enthusiasm!"

Each of us would act differently to touching a live wire. When Jesus quickens our lives (Ephesians 2:1-4), we are now alive, touched by God, and respond accordingly.
